5 injured after under-construction building collapses at Kannauj railway station

At least five people were injured and 23 were rescued, and several others are feared trapped after an under-construction roof slab collapsed at Kannauj railway station in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, officials said.

Police and rescue teams, including personnel from the State Disaster Response Force, are working to free the trapped workers. Those rescued have been taken to the hospital for treatment.

Northeast Railway CPRO Pankaj Kumar Singh stated that five workers who were injured have been shifted to a hospital for treatment. 

“We received information about the incident at 2:39 pm. Five workers have been injured and are being treated at the hospital. A compensation of Rs 50,000 has been announced for the seriously injured and Rs 5,000 for those with minor injuries,” Singh said.

Rescue operations are ongoing, with railway and state government teams coordinating relief efforts at the site.
