The National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC), which visited Sandeshkhali on Tuesday, has recommended the President’s Rule in West Bengal in its report, according to sources.
According to sources, the SC panel has also mentioned that there is a complete breakdown of law and order in the state and added that the accused should be tried under Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
A National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) team visited the troubled Sandeshkhali area in West Bengal to assess the situation following days of unrest due to allegations of sexual assault and violence against women by supporters of the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC).
