UP man who performed his ‘Terahvi’ while being alive , dies after two days

In Uttar Pradesh’s Etah, a 55-year-old man who had organised his own ‘terahvi’ ceremony two days ago has passed away. The man, Hakim Singh, breathed his last on Wednesday night, leaving the villagers in shock.

A terahvi is a Hindu ritual observed 13 days after the death of a person.

He had organised a significant ceremony on January 15 and had invited around 800 people to the feast. When asked why he held his own ‘terahvi’, he said that he didn’t have faith in his family members, suspecting that they wouldn’t conduct it for him after his death.

He had mentioned feeling that his health was deteriorating, and it was better for him to organise the ritual feast since he believed his relatives would not do it after he was gone.

Hakim Singh had also accused his brothers and nephews of forcibly taking over his ancestral land and house, claiming that they had physically assaulted him in the past.

He lived alone, as his wife had left him a few years back.
