AMD’s top Strix Halo APU, the Ryzen AI MAX+ PRO 395, has been spotted at Geekbench with 16 cores & a Radeon 8060S iGPU.
Although AMD’s Strix Halo “Ryzen AI Max” APUs are no mystery, this is the first time we have seen a sample pop up in the Geekbench database, meaning we are heading towards the launch soon. The Strix Halo lineup is expected to be introduced at CES 2025.
Starting with the details, the particular APU is called the AMD Ryzen AI MAX+ PRO 395, which is a lot of words to remember but goes in line with the previous reports and what AMD has confirmed through their databases. The APU was tested on the AMD MAPLE-STXH reference evaluation board and used internally to test and evaluate early samples.
Coming to the specifications, the AMD Ryzen AI MAX+ PRO 395 “Strix Halo” APU features a total of 16 Zen 5 cores with 32 threads, a base clock of 3.0 GHz, and a reported peak clock speed of 4.4 GHz. The fastest actual clock speed reported is up to 5.1 GHz. As for cache, you are getting 64 MB of L3 and 16 MB of L2 since this is a dual CCD chiplet design. Previous info also suggested that the TDPs of these chips would range between 55-130W.
On the iGPU side, the AMD Strix Halo APUs are going to adopt the same RDNA 3.5 architecture as the current Strix “Ryzen AI 300” lineup. The difference is that the Halo chips will utilize a far bigger iGPU configuration with up to 40 compute units on chips such as the Ryzen AI MAX+ PRO 395 APU. The particular APU comes with the Radeon 8060S iGPU and utilizes 64 GB of DDR5 memory. AMD’s use of Radeon 8000 branding has also been confirmed for the RDNA 4 lineup which debuts at CES.
Performance was also measured and ended up scoring 67,004 points in the Vulkan API test. The result is faster than the GeForce RTX 3050, but we expect the final performance to be much better since this is still an early sample running on an evaluation platform with unoptimized drivers.
AMD Ryzen AI HX Strix Halo Expected Features:
AMD’s Strix Halo APUs are expected to launch in 2025 alongside several other Zen 5 mobile products such as Fire Range & Krackan Point. These products will be incorporated into several laptops, tablets, handhelds, and Mini PCs throughout the coming year.
