The suspended deputy general secretary of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), Aadhav Arjuna, who was under fire for his recent controversial remarks accusing their ally, the DMK, of promoting “monarchy”, has now released a video on X revealing his close association with the DMK.
The video features several images of Arjuna with key members of the DMK, accompanied by a claim that he was instrumental in bringing political strategist Prashant Kishore to Tamil Nadu to assist the DMK in its election work.
Arjuna, in the video, recalled his involvement with the DMK, stating that his association with the party began in 2015. He also mentioned his role in launching political initiatives such as One Mind India, a political intelligence gathering organization, in 2019. Additionally, he co-published the book “Ambedkar, A Leader for All”, which was launched during an event where Arjuna made his remark about the “monarchy” still existing in Tamil Nadu politics. This statement, which suggested that one should not become Chief Minister by virtue of their birth, led to his six-month suspension from VCK.
In the wake of the suspension, Arjuna took to social media, emphasising that his work was always aimed at empowering the oppressed. He tweeted, “I started my journey with the party to provide power to the oppressed. I only worked towards the progress of the party taking it forward. I truly believe that the base cadres know what work I did in the party and I shall continue to be their voice.” He also expressed his commitment to breaking the “monarch mentality” that he claims dominates Tamil Nadu politics.
Arjuna’s tweet continued, “I wish to strongly register that wishing for the oppressed to not get sharing of power is monarch mentality. I shall work towards breaking this mentality through democratic principles and protests.”
He further asserted his ideology, stating that political leaders should emerge based on their ideology, not through birthright. “People are the judges in Democracy. Let us expose fake ideologists who promote corruption before people,” he added.
He also vowed to continue his fight against caste oppression, women’s exploitation, threats to minorities, and oppressive political attitudes, saying, “No matter a thousand hands try to overshadow, the Sun can’t be hidden.”
