Two BJP MPs who were injured during a scuffle between the Opposition INDIA bloc and ruling NDA members on the Parliamentary premises were discharged from Delhi’s Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital on Monday, December 23.
BJP MPs Pratap Sarangi (69) from Odisha’s Balasore and Mukesh Rajput (56) from Uttar Pradesh’s Farrukhabad suffered head injuries in the face-off and were rushed to Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital on December 19 for treatment.
Speaking on the development, Rajput’s PA said that the Lok Sabha MP had complained of a little giddiness and heaviness in his head on Monday. However, given the high influx of patients at the RML Hospital, the two MPs were advised to go to Noida’s Kailash Hospital for further assistance.
The two Lok Sabha MPs were kept under observation in the ICU and were shifted to a ward on Saturday, December 21.
“The condition of both the MPs is much better now, and they have been discharged,” a senior doctor said.
A face-off between the opposition and NDA MPs in Parliament premises over the alleged insult to BR Ambedkar left Sarangi and Rajput injured. The BJP accused Rahul Gandhi of pushing the senior member, a charge rejected by the Congress leader.
On December 19, trouble began when the INDIA bloc members insisted on entering Parliament through the BJP MPs holding a protest instead of using the space left empty on one side of the staircase of the Makar Dwar, used by members to enter and exit the building. Rajput was also injured in the scuffle.
