The Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) chief, Jayant Chaudhary, on Monday directed that all national and state spokespersons be removed from their positions until further orders. The development came days after a spokesperson criticised Union Home Minister Amit Shah over his remarks on BR Ambedkar in Rajya Sabha.
In a statement, RLD general secretary (organisation) Trilok Tyagi said that all the national and state spokespersons were dismissed from their posts with immediate effect.
A few days back, RLD spokesperson Kamal Gautam criticised Union Home Minister Amit Shah over his remarks on Ambedkar in Rajya Sabha. RLD is a part of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
Earlier this month, Gautam called Amit Shah’s remarks “inappropriate”.
“Going against people who consider BR Ambedkar a God and making such remarks is not right,” Gautam had said, seeking an apology from Amit Shah over his remarks in Rajya Sabha.
In response to a row over his remarks on Ambedkar, Amit Shah had issued a statement, and said, “My statements were misrepresented. Congress spreads fake news. I can never speak against Ambedkar ji.”
“They (Congress) distorted my remarks (on Dr BR Ambedkar) and presented them in front of the public. I urge everyone to listen to my entire remark; it will clarify everything. I come from a party and a society that can never insult Dr BR Ambedkar even in the dreams,” Amit Shah added.
