Assault on Swati Maliwal: AAP says Arvind Kejriwal will act against his aide

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday accepted party’s Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal’s claims that she was assaulted by the Personal Assistant of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

The party also said that Arvind Kejriwal will take strict action against PA Bibhav Kumar.

The incident, which took place on Monday morning at the Chief Minister’s residence, came to light after Maliwal went to the Civil Lines police station and alleged that Kejriwal’s personal staff misbehaved with her. Maliwal also made PCR calls after the alleged assault.

In a first public statement, senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh confirmed the incident and said that the Chief Minister has taken cognisance of the matter and will take strict action.

“Yesterday, a condemnable incident took place. Swati Maliwal had gone to Arvind Kejriwal’s residence to meet him. While she was waiting for him in the drawing room, Vaibhav Kumar allegedly misbehaved with her. The CM has taken cognisance of the matter, and he will take appropriate action,” Sanjay Singh said while addressing a press conference.
