Assistant professor from Uttar Pradesh found dead inside locked bathroom at Chennai residence, police suspect suffocation – Tamil Nadu News

A 32-year-old assistant professor at a private college was found dead in the locked bathroom of his house in Maduravoyal’s Lawyers Garden in Chennai, the police said on Monday.

The deceased, identified as Prahar Kumar Karwar, a native of Uttar Pradesh, was employed at a private college in Kundrathur for the past four months. The incident came to light late Sunday night when Prahar’s wife, Akshara, who was away, became worried after he failed to answer her repeated calls.

Concerned about his silence, Akshara contacted Prahar’s friend, Soni, who then alerted the Maduravoyal police. When officers arrived at Prahar’s residence, they found the house locked from the inside. Suspecting that he was still inside, they searched the premises and discovered him unresponsive in the bathroom.

Police broke into the house and forced open the bathroom door, where Prahar was found lying near the faucet with a plastic cover wrapped around his neck. His body was sent to Kilpauk Government Hospital for an autopsy.

Investigators suspect suffocation as the cause of death but are baffled by the circumstances, as there were no signs of forced entry into the residence. The Maduravoyal police have initiated a detailed investigation and are awaiting the autopsy report to determine the exact cause of death.
