Auto-rickshaw carrying school students loses control, topples in Tamil Nadu’s Tirunelveli, 10-year-old dies

A 10-year-old boy was killed after an auto-rickshaw carrying school students lost control and toppled in Tamil Nadu’s Tirunelveli district.

The boy, a Class 5 student, was travelling with 10 other students in an autorickshaw driven by Sundhar. The driver had picked them up from Karungulam, Sivandhipuram and Vikramasinghapuram.

Sundhar lost control over the vehicle when they reached Ambasamudram, and it toppled with students trapped inside.

As commuters helped to rescue the students, the boy died of his injuries. Three other students were also seriously injured and were admitted to a government hospital for treatment.

Police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
