Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati rejects alliance talks, confirms to go solo in Lok Sabha polls 2024

Mayawati, the chief of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), has dismissed rumours of forming a coalition ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

“The news of a coalition ahead of the Lok Sabha elections is false. This rumour proves that some parties cannot function properly without the BSP,” Mayawati said.

The BSP will contest the Lok Sabha elections independently, she affirmed.

With the Lok Sabha elections approaching and the opposition parties’ coalition falling apart, efforts are being made by several leaders to include the BSP in the India Bloc.

Avinash Pande, Congress’ Uttar Pradesh in-charge, on Sunday said that the India Bloc’s doors are open for the BSP to join the united fight against the BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Mayawati said that the BSP has not formed any coalition with any party, and this has been announced several times.

“Despite repeatedly announcing not to form any coalition with any party ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the continuous spread of rumours regarding the coalition proves that some parties cannot function properly without the BSP, while the BSP prioritises the well-being of its people,” she wrote on X (formerly Twitter) in Hindi.

“Therefore, considering the well-being and welfare of all sections of society, especially the poor, oppressed, and neglected, the decision of the BSP to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections independently, relying solely on its own strength, is steadfast. People should beware of rumours,” she said.
