Bihar: Fire breaks out near Patna’s Gulzarbagh railway station, train operations halted for hours

A massive fire broke out near a railway station in Bihar’s Patna, causing a temporary halt in train operations, officials said on Tuesday. The fire erupted in close proximity to a Vande Bharat Express, en route from Kolkata, that had halted at Patna’s Gulzarbagh railway station.

Railway officials said that the fire erupted after a tree fell on a high tension electric wire at the station, which came in contact with the railway line. No casualties were reported.

Personnel from nearby Rajendranagar railway station and other senior officials rushed to the scene after operation of trains were halted for around four hours.

In a video of the incident, which has been widely shared on social media, people can be seen rushing to get down from the train after the fire broke out. Visuals showed a huge blaze engulfing from behind the Kolkata to Patna Vande Bharat Express.

Officials said that an oil tanker train, which was filled with petrol, was also stopped at Gulzarbagh station till Tuesday morning.

Further investigation to ascertain the exact reason for the fire and damage caused due to the incident is underway.
