Chandigarh mayor polls: Arvind Kejriwal lauds Chief Justice, ‘Like Krishna in Supreme Court’

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday lauded Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud for the Supreme Court’s verdict on the Chandigarh mayoral polls.

“We consider courts as temples. Serving justice is God’s work. This is why when a judge announces verdicts, it is considered God’s work in a way,” Kejriwal said during his speech in the Delhi Assembly.

Drawing parallels with CJI Chandrachud and God, Kejriwal added, “Whatever happened in the Supreme Court yesterday, it seemed as if Lord Krishna was also present in the Supreme Court yesterday. There was God in the Chief Justice.”

Reiterating his comments from Tuesday, Kejriwal thanked the Supreme Court for “saving democracy” in such difficult times.

Kejriwal’s remarks came a day after the Supreme Court overturned the results of the Chandigarh mayoral elections, declaring AAP’s candidate Kuldeep Kumar as the winner of the election.

Further, taking potshots at the BJP, Kejriwal said that the party doesn’t win, but “steals” elections.
