Chhattisgarh schools to teach stories of Guru Gobind Singh’s sons: Chief Minister

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai on Veer Bal Diwas announced that the story of Sahibzadas Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh, sons of ninth Sikh Guru Gobind Singh, would be included in the school curriculum in the state. Speaking at a seminar at the medical college auditorium, Sai said the inclusion would help younger generations learn from the sacrifices of the two young martyrs.

“The stories of such valiant figures will remind young minds of the sacrifices made by Sikh Gurus in the nation’s protection,” Sai said. He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for designating Veer Bal Diwas to honour the martyrdom of Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh.

The Chief Minister noted that this addition to the curriculum aimed to inspire students by teaching them about the ideals and resilience of the Sahibzadas.

As Chhattisgarh marks its 25th year as a state, Sai reiterated the government’s commitment to building a socially harmonious and progressive society. The seminar was attended by dignitaries, political leaders, and members of the Sikh community.

Prem Shankar Sidar, a keynote speaker at the event, described the Sahibzadas as the youngest martyrs in history. He said their steadfastness in their beliefs offered a timeless lesson in courage and resilience.
