The Fox News Network abandoned objectivity years ago. But even more concerning is the network’s recent abandonment of reality. A strange move for an organization that claims “we report, you decide.”
So it’s no surprise that veteran FOX News journalist Chris Wallace has headed for the exit. Makes you wonder if he got wind of the texts between several FOX News celebrities and then-Trump Chief of Staff Mark Meadows during the insurrection last January, 6. Journalists should objectively report on politicians and the texts hinted at the depths of coordination between FOX News hosts and the Trump administration.
Fox is far from the only cable news network that has ditched the traditional, unbiased news format. But here’s the difference: as biased as MSNBC and CNN can be, the reporting and opinions on those news networks are generally grounded in fact. Fox News has gone off the deep end, reporting dangerous misinformation on everything from COVID-19 to a slew of conspiracy theories.
The result, as the Washington Post reported last month, is that millions of Americans are now dangerously misinformed, especially when it comes to COVID-19. And that’s having a profound impact on our ability to get the pandemic under control.
