Congress took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi after Bollywood’s famous Kapoor family met him on Tuesday to invite him to the Raj Kapoor Film Festival. The festival, which begins on December 13, celebrates Raj Kapoor’s centenary birth anniversary, marking 100 years of his legacy.
Taking a dig at the meeting, Congress leader Pawan Khera said, “We said Manipur, he thought Kareena Kapoor.”
The dig by the Congress is the latest in a series of swipes at the Prime Minister, accusing him of deliberately avoiding a visit to Manipur, a state that has been marred by ethnic violence for over a year.
Ethnic violence between the Meitei and Kuki communities has claimed more than 200 lives in Manipur since May last year.
