As several flights from and to the Delhi airport got delayed on Tuesday due to dense fog and low visibility, the Delhi airport authorities have issued an advisory urging people to contact their airlines before stepping out of their houses. Flight operations at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) have been badly hit due the unavailability of CAT III-compliant runways, too. Apart from reduced visibility, the situation got worse because Delhi Airport currently has only one CAT III-equipped runway for operations in low visibility. Runway 28/10 has been closed for scheduled re-carpeting since mid-September.
