On Wednesday, Delhi experienced the country’s highest-ever temperature, with the mercury soaring to 52.3 degrees Celsius at the Mungeshpur weather station, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
This surpasses the previous national record held by Rajasthan’s Phalodi weather station.
Following the record-breaking heat, Delhi-NCR region received light rain accompanied by gusty winds, offering some much-needed relief from the intense heatwave.
For the first time in history, Delhi’s power demand has exceeded the 8,300-MW mark.
