Electoral bond scheme was to fund BJP, says Kapil Sibal

In an exclusive with India Today’s Consulting Editor Rajdeep Sardesai, former Law Minister and senior advocate, Kapil Sibal said that the electoral bonds scheme was to fund the BJP.

“It was a scheme to fund the BJP and they were successful in amassing Rs 6,566 crore during this period of time since 2018.” Kapil Sibal said.

According to Sibal, the changes in company law and amendments to the Income Tax Act, as well as the Representation of the People Act, were all aimed at enabling the corporate sector to fund the BJP. He claims this strategy has been successful, resulting in the BJP amassing Rs. 6,566 crores since 2018. Sibal insists that the scheme, contrary to popular belief, was not intended to eliminate cash but rather to enrich the BJP’s party coffers.
