A café owner in Haryana’s Rohtak on Saturday alleged that he was brutally beaten by a few men after he refused to pay them Rs 1 crore.
Café owner, Jasmeet Singh, alleged that he had borrowed Rs 35 lakh from local financiers and had paid them Rs 50 lakh in return as they demanded. To his dismay, the financiers again asked Jasmeet to pay Rs 1 crore, despite him already settling the dues by paying them Rs 15 lakh more than he owed.
Jasmeet said that the financiers threatened him with consequences if he did not pay Rs 1 crore. Following his refusal to pay the amount, a few men came to his café on Friday night and started beating him up with sticks and causing minor damage to his property.
The incident was caught on the CCTV camera, in which it can be seen that two to three young men, wielding wooden sticks, are attacking Jasmeet, who is trying to evade them by taking shelter inside his café. One of Jasmeet’s aides is also seen trying to ward off the men attacking the café owner.
Jasmeet has also accused the local police of inaction, saying that they were not serious about his allegations and were refusing to act.
Jasmeet, who runs the café in Sunariya village of Rohtak, alleged that the police even refused to get his medical test done post the attack and asked him to get it done himself.
He also said that, a year ago, the same accused had also kidnapped his brother-in-law and were constantly threatening to kill him and his family. The accused were granted bail as the police did not pursue his case seriously, Jasmeet alleged.
