ISRO Set To Script History As 2 Indian Satellites Close In For “Handshake”

Sriharikota:

The two Indian satellites set to dock together in space are now just 15 metres away and are closing in for an “exciting handshake”, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has said as it waits to script history with its Space Docking Experiment (SpaDeX) mission.

“SpaDeX satellites holding position at 15m, capturing stunning photos and videos of each other,” ISRO said in its latest update around 6:20 am.

The two satellites, SDX01 (Chaser) and SDX02 (Target), are part of SpaDeX mission that was launched on December 30. A PSLV C60 rocket had lifted off with the two satellites from Sriharikota and placed into a 475-kilometre circular orbit.

ISRO had postponed twice the historic docking of the two satellites.
