Madhya Pradesh: Infant death due to stray dogs attack in Bhopal, CM seeks suggestions

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Sunday sought suggestions from the people of the state to curb the stray dog menace after a seven-month-old boy was mauled to death in Bhopal recently.

The child was attacked by a pack of dogs in Bhopal’s Ayodhya Nagar on Wednesday. A video of the incident which showed that his hand was severed, went viral on social media.

The Chief Minister expressed grief over the incident and directed officials to provide financial assistance worth Rs 4 lakh to the boy’s family, who are daily-wage workers from Guna district.

“It is necessary to invite suggestions from the people so that appropriate measures can be taken to prevent such incidents,” Mohan Ydav said.

Police said that the boy’s body was exhumed on Saturday to conduct a postmortem examination as the family had already conducted his last rites on Wednesday.

Ayodhya Nagar inspector Mahesh Nilhare said the child’s mother had placed the child on the ground and was working nearby when a street dog attacked him.

After the incident, Bhopal Municipal Corporation caught eight stray dogs from Ayodhya Nagar, and the collector has directed that a campaign be run to catch such animals, officials said.
