Mangaluru Police notice to Left youth wing for installing Tipu Sultan cutout

The Mangaluru Police has issued a notice to the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) asking if permission was sought for the installation of Tipu Sultan’s cutout in the city.

The DYFI, which is the CPI(M)’s youth wing, had installed a cutout of 18th-century Mysuru king Tipu Sultan a few days ago ahead of their convention in Mangaluru, the police said on Monday.

The installation of any cutout or cutout in public places requires permission from the concerned municipality. If permission is not taken, the cutout must be removed.

The DYFI is yet to respond to the police notice.

The DYFI had installed a six-foot cutout of Tipu Sultan outside its office near Konaje Circle.

After learning that no permission was sought, the Mangaluru Police asked the DYFI to immediately remove the cutout.
