Moviegoers at a late-night screening of the blockbuster ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ in Nagpur witnessed a real-life action scene unfold when police stormed the multiplex and arrested a notorious gangster wanted for murder and drug trafficking.
Vishal Meshram, a fugitive for 10 months with 27 cases against him, including two murders and a history of violence against police, was arrested inside the theatre during the film’s climax on Thursday, news agency PTI reported.
Authorities, who had been tracking Meshram’s movements via cyber surveillance and his new SUV, deflated the vehicle’s tyres outside the cinema hall to prevent escape.
Police then entered the theatre, swiftly arresting the gangster who was engrossed in the film, giving him no chance to resist.
The dramatic arrest, which occurred shortly after midnight, left the audience stunned but unharmed. Meshram is currently lodged in Nagpur Central Jail and will soon be transferred to a prison in Nashik, according to PTI.
