In the segment, Davidson’s Rodgers is interviewed by Fox News’ Judge Jeanine Pirro, played by Cecily Strong.
“Now Aaron, you’re not vaccinated. So what? Who the hell cares? It’s your body, your choice. And please never use that quote for any other issue,” Strong begins, getting laughs from the crowd.
“Exactly Jeanine, it’s my body and my COVID… I can give it to whoever I want,” the football star replies. “But suddenly the woke mob is coming after me…”
“And straight talk Aaron, because I never talk gay. Did you ever lie about being vaccinated?” she questions.
“I never lied. I took all my teammates into a huddle, got all their faces 3 inches away from my wet mouth and told them, ‘Trust me, I’m more or less immunized. Go team!'” he responds.
He adds that “people can talk all they want, but at the end of the day, my record is still 7-1, meaning of the eight people I’ve infected, seven are fine.”
The last guest Strong interviews during the segment is Donald Trump, played by James Austin Johnson, whose impression garnered praise on social media.
Viewers were quick to take to Twitter to share their reaction to Johnson’s Trump.
“James Austin Johnson came to SNL known for his Trump impression, and he’s showing why in this Cold Open #SNL,” user @ForgotAboutRay tweeted.
“Whoever is playing Trump on #SNL this season is doing incredible,” tweeted user @Seypremacist.
“I don’t know who is doing the Trump impersonation on SNL but it’s by far the best that I’ve seen,” @HellOrBywater tweeted.
Others were impressed with Johnson’s skills but felt like the Johnson-Trump threshold had been met.
“Yes, he’s talented, but SNL is force-feeding new cast member James Austin Johnson’s impressions into the cold opens like they’re making comedic foie gras. (That being said, he is *so* much better than Baldwin at this one.),” user @adambonin wrote.
