In a display of diplomatic camaraderie, the Prime Minister of Kuwait, His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, on Sunday, personally escorted Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the airport as he departed for New Delhi, concluding his historic two-day visit to the Gulf nation.
The two leaders shared a warm embrace at the airport before PM Modi emplaned for New Delhi.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi was conferred with Kuwait’s highest civilian honour, “The Order of Mubarak Al Kabeer”, by His Highness Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Emir of Kuwait.
The prestigious award, a knighthood order reserved for Heads of State, foreign sovereigns, and members of royal families, signified Kuwait’s recognition of PM Modi’s efforts in strengthening ties between the two nations.
“I am honoured to be conferred the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Order by His Highness the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al Sabah. I dedicate this honour to the people of India and to the strong friendship between India and Kuwait,” PM Modi posted on X.
The ‘Order of Mubarak Al Kabeer’ has previously been awarded to prominent global leaders, including former US presidents Bill Clinton and George Bush, as well as King Charles III.
During his Kuwait visit, the first by an Indian Prime Minister in 43 years, PM Modi received a grand ceremonial guard of honour at the Bayan Palace in the capital city.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in comprehensive discussions with the nation’s top leadership, including the Emir. The talks focused on strengthening cooperation in key sectors such as information technology, pharmaceuticals, fintech, infrastructure, and security.
On Saturday, PM Modi addressed the ‘Hala Modi’ event organised for the Indian community and paid a visit to an Indian labour camp. The Indian diaspora in Kuwait, exceeding one million members, is the largest expatriate community in the Gulf nation.
