Ram Mandir consecration: Know all about subh muhurat, rituals and pre-ceremony events


Preparations are underway for the mega Ram Mandir ‘Pran Pratishtha’ (consecration) ceremony in Ayodhya on January 22. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the chief guest of the event, which will also mark the inauguration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya,

According to the temple trust, over 7,000 people, including politicians, celebrities, industrialists, saints and around 100 representatives from different countries will attend the ceremony.

The Ram Lalla idol carved by Karnataka’s renowned sculptor Arun Yogiraj will be consecrated in the temple. The current idol of Lord Ram which has been worshipped for the last 70 years, will also be kept in the sanctum sanctorum of the new temple.

MUHURAT AND VENUE

The auspicious Pran Pratishtha of Lord Ram will take place on the upcoming Paush Shukla Kurma Dwadashi, Vikram Samvat 2080, falling on January 22 in the Vikram Samvat 2080 calendar.

The programme of Pran Pratistha will be held in the ‘Abhijeet Muhurta’ in the afternoon. However, the rituals of pre-Pran Pratistha sacraments will start from tomorrow (January 16) and continue till January 21 (Sunday).

  • January 16: Prayaschita and Karmakuti Poojan
  • January 17: Parisar Pravesh of the Murti
  • January 18 (Evening): Teerth Poojan, Jal Yatra, and Gandhadhivas
  • January 18 (Morning): Aushadhadhivas, Kesaradhivas, Ghritadhivas
  • January 19 (Evening): Dhanyadhivas
  • January 20 (Morning): Sharkaradhivas, Phaladhivas
  • January 20 (Evening): Pushpadhivas
  • January 21 (Morning): Madhyadhivas
  • January 22 (Evening): Shaiyadhivas

RITUALS AND ACHARAYAS

Typically, a Pran Pratistha ceremony involves Seven Adhivasas, although a minimum of three Adhivasas is commonly followed. The rituals of Ram Mandir consecration will be performed by a total of 121 Acharyas.

The supervision, coordination, anchoring, and direction of all proceedings during the Anushthan will be managed by Ganeshwar Shastri Dravid, while the role of the principal Acharya will be assumed by Lakshmi Kant Dixit of Kashi.

Acharyas of all schools of Bharatiya spiritualism, religion, sect, system of worship, tradition, Sants of more than 150 traditions, Mahamandaleshwars, Mandaleshwars, Shrimahants, Mahants, Nagas, as well as leading figures of more than 50 Adivasi, Girivasi, Tatavasi, Dwipavasi tribal traditions, will remain present to witness the Pran Pratistha ceremony on the premises.

DISTINGUISHED GUESTS

Along with PM Modi, the event will be graced by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, Pujaniya Sarsanghchalak, UP Governor Anandiben Patel, UP CM Yogi Adityanath and others. Former and present Indian cricketers including Sachin Tendular, MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli and others have also been invited to the ceremony.

Bollywood celebrities, including Amitabh Bachchan, Rajinikanth, Madhuri DIxit, Anupam Kher, Akshay Kumar, Ranbeer Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Prabhas. Notably, several actors, including Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Sanjay Dutt and others have not received an invitation yet.

Veteran actor Arun Govil, who played the role of Lord Ram in Ramanand Sagar’s popular TV series Ramayan, has been invited to the consecration ceremony.

GIFTS ARRIVE IN AYODHYA

People from different states are continuously arriving with symbolic offerings such as water, soil, gold, silver, gems, clothing, jewelry, large bells, drums, and aromatic items.

Particularly noteworthy are the significant gifts, including Bhaars (gifts sent during the establishment of a daughter’s house), sent from Maa Janaki’s maternal homes at Janakpur in Nepal and Sitamarhi in Bihar.
