Ahead of the Ram Mandir’s consecration ceremony in Ayodhya on January 22, a struggle of a karsevak has come to the fore. The karsevak (religious volunteer), Achal Meena Singh, now also has an appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
On the day of December 1992, when the aspiration of constructing the Ram Temple in Ayodhya brought thousands of Ram devotees to the temple town, among them was the face of Achal Singh Meena. He was 30 at the time.
During the 1992 agitation at Ram Mandir, Achal Singh Meena climbed up to demolish the disputed structure, but a part of the structure fell, a part of the debris fell on Achal Singh’s back, and his lower body then became paralysed.
Achal was first admitted to Faizabad, and then he was taken to Gandhi Medical College in Lucknow, where he regained consciousness, but since then, he cannot walk.
Achal Singh Meena has appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Mohan Yadav that once after January 22’s mega event, he should be allowed to visit Ram Mandir
Leading a low-profile life in a village near Bhopal, Achal Meena told India Today TV that he was nothing but elated to hear the news of the erection of the Ram Mandir. He further expressed his desire for a darshan of “Ram Lalla” and to go to Ayodhya.
