Shashi Tharoor X post on leg injury – Shashi Tharoor slams trolls over old leg injury image

Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor has lashed out at trolls after an old image of the Kerala MP with a bandaged left foot started circulating on social media. The pictures show Tharoor in bed with a cast around his left ankle. However, the image is from 2022.

“When the usual troll factory is reduced to circulating a two-year-old picture of mine with a sprain led foot, accompanied by picayune comments, one realises how desperate they are for a distraction,” Tharoor tweeted.

The Thiruvananthapuram MP clarified that he was absolutely fine and has been regularly attending the winter session of Parliament.

“For all those expressing concern about my well-being, I am pleased to say that not only is my leg alright, but I have been attending Parliament daily and spoke in the debate on the National Disaster Management bill yesterday,” he said.

In 2022, Tharoor sprained his left foot after missing a step in the Parliament building during the winter session. The former Union Minister had also shared photographs of him in a hospital bed with a cast around his left ankle.

Due to the injury, Tharoor had to be taken to Parliament in a wheelchair. He had then expressed his disappointment on how poorly equipped India was for disabled people. “This temporary disability has taught me how poorly equipped we are to support people with disabilities,” the Congress MP had tweeted then.

The Congress MP, who often grabs social media attention for his unique linguistic style, however, is no alien to trolls. In August, Tharoor was trolled for his “memorable day in Wayanad” post during his visit to the landslide-hit district. The tragedy left over 300 people dead and displaced hundreds.

“For all the trolls: the definition of ‘memorable’: Something that is memorable is worth remembering or likely to be remembered, because it is special or unforgettable. That’s all I meant,” he tweeted.
