A passenger flying from Mumbai to Bengaluru on a SpiceJet flight was stuck inside the plane’s toilet for nearly an hour on Tuesday morning due to an alleged malfunction of the lavatory door lock. The commode lid was then his seat for the rest of the flight as he waited until landing in Bengaluru, when technicians opened the door.
SpiceJet, in a statement, expressed regret over the incident and said the passenger is being provided a full refund. The airline added that the flyer was provided assistance throughout the journey.
A video has now surfaced showing the passenger struggling to open the door. The 25-second clip shows the man sitting on the commode lid in the cramped-up toilet, then standing and trying to push the door. Someone from outside also tries to move the door knob to open it but to no avail.
