Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin and Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) leader Dr Anbumani Ramadoss engaged in a war of words over allegations involving the Adani Group and TANGEDCO officials. The escalating exchange highlighted accusations of corruption, demands for multiple investigations, and denials of alleged secret meetings.
Dr Anbumani Ramadoss questioned whether Chief Minister Stalin would consent to a Supreme Court-monitored or CBI-led investigation into allegations that Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) officials were bribed by the Adani Group. “It is condemnable that while Tamil Nadu’s name is being defamed in the USA, as its name has come up due to allegations that the Adani Group attempted to bribe TANGEDCO officials, the Chief Minister is refusing to provide an explanation,” said Ramadoss.
The PMK leader had earlier alleged that CM Stalin had secretly met Adani, a claim that Stalin addressed directly in the Tamil Nadu Assembly. When PMK MLA GK Mani raised questions on follow-ups related to Adani and Cyclone Fengal’s aftermath, Stalin seized the opportunity to confront the allegations head-on.
“You were raising allegations against me over meeting Adani. Why have you become silent? Have you come to know of the truth that I did not meet him? I did not meet Adani,” Stalin asserted, dismissing the accusations.
Stalin challenged the PMK’s stance on the Adani controversy, asking whether the party would support a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) investigation into the allegations. “Will you support a Joint Parliamentary Committee inquiry on Adani?” Stalin questioned.
Anbumani Ramadoss, affirming his party’s readiness to back a JPC probe, said, “Our party is ready to support a JPC enquiry,” adding, “But is the Chief Minister ready for a Supreme Court-led investigation or a CBI enquiry into the allegations of TANGEDCO officials allegedly being bribed by the Adani Group?”
