Tamil Nadu fishermen injured in Sri Lankan pirate attack, catch looted – Tamil Nadu News


Three fishermen from Tamil Nadu sustained slash injuries after a group of Sri Lankan pirates attacked them and looted their catch on Sunday. They have been admitted to a hospital in the Nagapattinam district.

According to the fishermen Rajkumar, Rajendran, and Nagalingam, they had set out from Akkaraipettai for fishing. They claimed that during the early hours of Sunday, six Sri Lankan pirates surrounded them in two fibre boats, brandishing weapons.

The fishermen alleged that the pirates attacked them with wooden logs, stole their catch and fishing nets, and then escaped.

The injured fishermen were rescued and taken to a hospital where they are undergoing treatment.

Rajendran sustained a slash injury to his head, Rajkumar suffered injuries to his head and hand, while Nagalingam sustained blunt injuries.

Tamil Nadu police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.
