TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu’s wife ‘jokes’ about contesting from Andhra Pradesh’s Kuppam seat

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N Chandrababu Naidu’s wife Nara Bhuvaneswari asked the people of Andhra Pradesh’s Kuppam constituency if they would “support her or her husband” if they contested the polls.

However, she immediately clarified that she was making a “joke” and wanted people to reply honestly.

Naidu is an MLA from the seat and his wife was visiting the constituency as part of her ‘Nijam Gelavali Yatra‘ (truth shall triumph).

“After doing the Nijam Gelavali Yatra and experiencing the love of the people, I felt a desire in my heart. With the trust of N Chandrababu Naidu, the people of Kuppam have been voting for him for the past 35 years. I might ask him to take a break, and I’ll run for office,” she said.

She went on to tell her party cadres at the village, “Those who support N Chandrababu Naidu, please raise your hands. Now, those who want to support me, raise your hands. Well, you can’t choose both of us at once. I’m just kidding. I don’t need any positions, and my husband takes good care of me.”

“I can’t continue my conversation seriously. So, I made a light-hearted joke. Please don’t assume my questions are true. Only N Chandrababu Naidu will be contesting from here,” Nara Bhuvaneswari clarified.

Bhuvaneswari announced she would embark on a tour of Andhra Pradesh and would visit families of people who “died” after hearing about the arrest of former chief minister of the state, Naidu.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, Nara Bhuvaneswari shared images of her visits to the affected families of the deceased “who was unable to withstand Chandrababu’s illegal arrest”.

Naidu was arrested by the state Crime Investigation Department (CID) in connection with the skill development case on September 9 last year. In November last year, the Andhra Pradesh High Court granted bail to the Telugu Desam Party chief in the skill development case. He was lodged in Rajahmundry Central Jail from September 10 to October 31, 2023.
