Telangana: ACB seizes over Rs 65 lakh cash, 3 kg gold from tribal welfare officer in Hyderabad

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) recovered over Rs 65 lakh in cash and over 3 kg of gold from a tribal welfare department official in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

The ACB also seized several illegal documents, including land documents from the executive engineer, K Jaga Jyothi.

Over 3 kg of gold was seized from the officer.

She was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 84,000 and was arrested by anti-corruption officials on Monday.

In a video of the incident, which went viral on social media, Jaga Jyothi could be seen weeping on camera after she was caught accepting the bribe from a contractor, Bodukarr Ganganna.

Recently, in another case, the ACB officials arrested the Superintendent of Nalgonda Government Hospital for taking a bribe of Rs 3 lakh. The accused, Lachhu Naik, was caught red-handed while he was accepting the bribe on February 17.

Similarly, ACB officials in January recovered cash of Rs 40 lakh, properties and other assets worth Rs 100 crore, during raids at multiple locations associated with secretary of the Telangana State Real Estate Regulatory Authority (TSRERA) and former director of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) Shiva Balakrishna.
