Tennessee Titans outside linebacker Bud Dupree has been charged with misdemeanor assault after a Sunday evening fight at a Nashville Walgreens store, Metro Nashville Police said Tuesday.

Dupree, 28, was at a Walgreens store Sunday with “several” companions, according to a news release from MNPD.

Some of the people with Dupree got into a verbal argument with a male employee, the release said. Dupree then grabbed the victim and his phone and got into a “physical altercation,” police said. The employee was allegedly filming during the incident, according to MNPD spokesperson Don Aaron.

Dupree had left the store by the time police arrived, according to Aaron. The male employee was treated for a cut to his forehead, Aaron said. A female employee was also treated for a cut on her hand.

A spokesperson for the Titans said Monday that the organization is “aware of the situation and are gathering additional information.” Dupree and his attorney met with detectives Tuesday morning.

Police said they issued a citation for the misdemeanor and that Dupree is due to report for booking in three weeks.

Dupree was the Titans’ marquee free-agent signing this offseason, inked to a five-year deal worth $82.5 million in March. The former Pittsburgh Steelers pass rusher was slow to start the season, as he was recovering from a torn ACL suffered in December 2020 and spent three games on injured reserve with an abdominal injury.

Dupree has posted two sacks in the last three games. He has three sacks, eight quarterback hits, two tackles for loss, a forced fumble and a pass defended in 10 games with the Titans this season.

The news comes as the Titans (11-5) head to Houston (4-12) for their regular-season finale Sunday (noon, CBS). The Titans, who already have clinched the AFC South title, can claim a No. 1 seed for the playoffs with a win over the Texans.
