Uncertainty over Akhilesh Yadav joining Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Uttar Pradesh

Uncertainty still persists over Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav’s participation in Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Uttar Pradesh’s Amethi and Raebareli.

Akhilesh Yadav has said SP will not participate in Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra till seat-sharing with Congress is finalised.

“Discussions are ongoing. Lists are coming from both sides. Once the seat allocation is finalised, the Samajwadi Party will join the Congress’ Nyay Yatra,” Akhilesh Yadav said.

The yatra will pass through Amethi on Monday. It will then enter Raebareli, where the Samajwadi Party chief had earlier said he would join.

“The number of seats and the names of the seats had already been decided, but Rahul Gandhi is adamant on certain seats, causing a delay in finalising the alliance,” the party sources told India Today TV.

Negotiations between Akhilesh Yadav, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and Mallikarjun Kharge have taken place, but a final deal on seats has not yet been reached.

Earlier this month, Akhilesh Yadav had accepted the invitation extended by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and had said he will join the yatra either in Amethi or Raebareli.

The SP had recently offered 11 seats to the Congress in Uttar Pradesh for the upcoming parliamentary polls.
