We regard court as temples, there was God in Chief Justice yesterday: Kejriwal

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal drew parallels with Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud and God after the Supreme Court’s verdict on the Chandigarh mayoral polls.

Kejriwal, during his speech in the Delhi Legislative Assembly during the Budget session, thanked the Supreme Court for “saving democracy” in such difficult times.

“We consider courts as temples. Serving justice is God’s work. This is why when a judge announces verdicts, it is considered God’s work in a way,” Kejriwal said.

“Whatever happened in the Supreme Court yesterday, it seemed as if Lord Krishna was also present in the Supreme Court yesterday. There was God in the Chief Justice,” he added.

His praise of the judiciary came a day after the Supreme Court overturned the results of the Chandigarh mayoral elections, declaring AAP’s candidate Kuldeep Kumar as the winner of the election.
