A woman police officer was assaulted and held captive by a group of miscreants while attempting to shut down an illegal gambling den in Odisha’s Balasore district on Sunday night, police said.

Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) Champabati Soren of Talasari Marine Police Station was leading a raid at a shop in Udaypur village suspected of hosting gambling activities. According to reports, a verbal altercation escalated into a physical confrontation, with the miscreants locking IIC Soren inside the shop.
