Zayn Malik pleaded no contest Wednesday to charges that he harassed his girlfriend, supermodel Gigi Hadid, and her mother, Yolanda Hadid, during an allegedly violent argument at the family’s home in Pennsylvania, according to court documents.
Police charged Malik, 28, with four counts of harassment stemming from a Sept. 29 incident at the couple’s Pennsylvania home. Malik allegedly grabbed and shovedYolanda Hadid “into a dresser causing mental anguish and physical pain,” according to the documents.
The former One Direction singer also “communicated lewd, lascivious, threatening or obscene words” toward both Gigi, 26, and Yolanda Hadid, 57, telling the latter to “stay away from my (expletive) daughter.”
Malik also told Gigi Hadid to “defend your partner against your (expletive) mother in my house,” according to charging documents filed in Bucks County.
Malik entered a plea to the four counts of harassment Wednesday. The plea means that Malik refused to admit guilt but accepted the punishment. In a previous statement to TMZ, the singer said he “adamantly” denied striking Yolanda Hadid.
Malik is also accused of cursing at another individual at the scene listed on the report as John McMahon. Police records state Malik also tried to physically fight McMahon.
The British singer is currently on probation for 360 days and is ordered to complete an anger management class and a domestic violence supervision program, should he qualify. Malik is also not to have any communication with Yolanda Hadid or McMahon, according to documents.
Probation could be lifted in six months if Malik satisfies the conditions, according to documents.
Malik confirmed on Twitter Thursday that he was involved in “an argument” with “a family member of my partner’s.” Malik and Hadid share 1-year-old daughter Khai.
“Despite my efforts to restore us to a peaceful family environment that will allow for me to co-parent my daughter in a manner in which she deserves, this has been ‘leaked’ to the press,” Malik wrote in a statement posted to Twitter. “I am hopeful though for healing for all involved with the harsh words shared and more importantly, I remain vigilant to protect Khai and give her the privacy she deserves.”

But Malik said he decided to speak out after “private family matters” were “thrown on the world stage for all to poke and pick apart.”
“I am a private person and I very much want to create a safe and private place for my daughter to grow up in,” Malik wrote. “This was and still should be a private matter but it seems for now there is divisiveness.”
The musician didn’t provide any more details about the argument.
Hadid and Malik welcomed their daughter in September 2020. Malik announced their baby girl’s arrival on Twitter.
“Our baby girl is here, healthy & beautiful,” he captioned a photo of him holding his daughter’s hand. “to try put into words how i am feeling right now would be an impossible task. The love i feel for this tiny human is beyond my understanding. Grateful to know her, proud to call her mine, & thankful for the life we will have together.”
Hadid added that their daughter “already changed our world” in a her own post.
The supermodel planned on giving birth at a New York City hospital but ended up welcoming her child at home on their Pennsylvania farm after 14 hours of labor, surrounded by Malik, her mom Yolanda, her sister Bella Hadid, a midwife and Hadid’s assistant, she told Vogue for a cover story published in February.
At the time, Hadid told the publication that said she and Malik decided they “can have some time,” after Khai was born, “before we do that again.”
