Farmers queue up tractors before reaching Delhi; Heavy traffic jams at Delhi borders

As the farmers are approaching Delhi, there are long queues of tractors at the Delhi borders. Farmers said that they were ready for a long haul.

A crucial meeting between farmer leaders and Union ministers ended without a resolution late Monday night, prompting farmers to press ahead with their ‘Delhi Chalo’ protest on Tuesday.

Despite hours of dialogue, the two sides failed to reach an agreement on key demands. The government, however, said a consensus was reached on most issues and a formula was proposed for resolving some others through the formation of a committee.

Meanwhile, massive traffic jams were witnessed at the Delhi borders with Gurugram and Noida on Tuesday as police put up concrete barricades to check vehicles entering the national capital.

More than 1 km traffic jam was seen on the Delhi-Meerut highway at Gazipur border with vehicles queued up on the route.
