Jharkhand assembly official among 3 arrested in JSSC paper leak case

Ranchi Police on Sunday arrested three people, including an undersecretary of the Jharkhand assembly, in connection with the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) paper leak case.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Ranchi Police, which is investigating the JSSC paper leak, recovered blank cheques, dozens of admit cards and mobile phones from the premises of Mohammad Shamim, the state assembly’s undersecretary.

Mohammad Shamim and his two sons had been under the scanner of the SIT after it got information that they were allegedly involved in the JSSC paper leak.

After the information was confirmed, the SIT raided Mohammad Shamim’s premises and arrested him and his two sons.

The Jharkhand government has constituted an SIT to investigate the question paper leak of the JSSC Combined Graduate Level (CGL) examination.

A special task force was formed under the leadership of Ranchi Sadar Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sanjeev Kumar Besra. Many policemen, including four police inspectors, are included in the SIT.

The JSSC CGL examination was held on January 28, but its question paper was leaked ahead of the examination. Following this, the SIT was formed to identify and arrest the accused at the earliest.

Meanwhile, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is investigating the matter. The probe agency suspects that there is an angle of money laundering in the paper leak case. It has asked for relevant information and documents from the Jharkhand government.
