Murder of Uzbek woman in Begaluru: Police arrest two accused who killed her for money

Seshadripuram Police in Bengaluru arrested two persons, Robert and Amrit Sonu, on Friday in connection with the murder of an Uzbek woman in the city. A 37-year-old woman from Uzbekistan, Zareena, was found dead in her hotel room in Bengaluru on Wednesday.

Both the accused are from Assam. The police revealed that the housekeeping staff at Jagadeesh Hotel allegedly killed the Uzbek national to steal foreign currency and her mobile phone. After committing the crime, they fled to Kerala.

Bengaluru Police formed a special team to arrest the suspects. During the investigation, two notes of 2,000 and one note of 5,000 Uzbekistan currency were recovered.

Robert and Amrit were reportedly cleaning the room when Zareena confronted them for entering without permission. Allegedly, she slapped one of the accused, leading to a scuffle. The suspects then smothered her to death, the police said.

After killing the woman, they locked the room and escaped from the hotel. Their involvement in the murder was uncovered after examining CCTV footage.

Zareena had arrived in Bengaluru on March 5, and since then, she was staying at the hotel.
