‘Proud of our diaspora’: PM ahead of Ahlan Modi event in Abu Dhabi


Ahead of the mega ‘Ahlan Modi’ event in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday expected to host between 35,000 and 40,000 attendees, Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the Indian diaspora and said he was proud of “their efforts to deepen India’s engagement with the world”.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister said, “We are very proud of our diaspora and their efforts to deepen India’s engagement with the world”.

“This evening, I look forward to being among UAE’s Indian diaspora at the #AhlanModi programme! Do join this memorable occasion,’ he added.

Ahlan Modi’ is Welcome Modi in Arabic.

The highly-anticipated event is being dubbed as one of the biggest diaspora events of Prime Minister Modi. It will take place at the Zayed Sports City Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

The UAE currently hosts a significant Indian community, with approximately 3.5 million individuals constituting a vital part of the Indian workforce in the Gulf nation.

The Prime Minister will embark on a two-day visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) today during which he also will hold talks with President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and inaugurate the first Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi.

According to the External Affairs Ministry, this will be his seventh visit to the UAE since 2015.
