Shiv Sena (UBT) leader murder case: 1st arrest made by Mumbai Police, gun used in crime belonged to him


The Crime Branch of Mumbai Police on Friday made the first arrest in connection with the murder of Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Abhishek Ghosalkar. The person, identified as Amarinder Mishra, was arrested under sections 29B and 30 of the Arms Act.

Abhishek Ghosalkar was shot thrice by Mauris Noronha, before the latter killed himself. The murder was recorded on camera as Ghosalkar was doing a livestream on Facebook at the time of crime. He was rushed to the hospital, but later succumbed to his injuries.

According to the police, Mishra had been working as Mauris Noronha’s bodyguard for the last four months. The gun which was used to kill Ghosalkar allegedly belonged to Mishra.

Amarinder Mishra will be produced in court on Saturday.

Speaking to the media, the police said that statements of various people associated with the case, including eyewitnesses, were recorded on Friday.

They further added that the cellphone, with which Mauris and Abhishek went live on Facebook, belonged to Mauris. It was placed on a tripod to record the Facebook live video, police said.
