UP leaders, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, to visit Ram Mandir today

Several members of both the Houses of the Uttar Pradesh Legislature are scheduled to visit the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The MLAs are currently on their way to the temple on buses from the state capital and the Chief Minister will join them in Ayodhya.

With the exception of Samajwadi Party (SP) leaders, most legislators are expected to visit the newly-opened temple. Speaker of Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Satish Mahana and Chairman of state Legislative Council Kunwar Manvendra Singh were also part of the delegation.

The members of the Legislative Assembly and the Legislative Council were invited by the Chief Minister and the Speaker Mahana to offer prayers to Ram Lalla in Ayodhya. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav had declined the invitation.

Criticising the Samajwadi Party, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said before leaving for the holy city, “All of us are going as ‘Ram bhakts’ (devotees of Lord Ram)… If anybody is not going, it is the samaaptwaadi party“.

Speaker Mahana said, “This is a matter of faith. Nobody could be forced to visit the ‘darbaar‘ of any God. If a person has not come due to various reasons, then it is his matter.”
