Farmers’ financial aid, 20 lakh jobs, free bus travel for women: TDP showers poll sops

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) general secretary Nara Lokesh on Sunday wooed women, farmers and young people with sops if the party was voted to power in the Andhra Pradesh assembly polls slated to be held later this year.

Listing out the proposed welfare schemes, Nara Lokesh said the TDP and the Jana Sena will create 20 lakh jobs for young people. “Until job opportunities arise, unemployed youth will receive a monthly unemployment allowance of Rs 3,000,” he said.

The TDP and the Jana Sena, led by Telugu actor Pawan Kalyan, have forged an alliance for the upcoming state assembly election.

Nara Lokesh stated that Rs 15,000 per year would be provided for every school-going child under the Thalliki Vandhanam scheme.

Under the Annadata scheme, the TDP leader said, farmers will get Rs 20,000 as assistance annually.

For women, three free gas cylinders per year will be provided by the TDP-Jana Sena to every household under the Deepam scheme, Nara Lokesh said.

“The TDP-Jana Sena government will grant Rs 1,500 per month to women aged 18 to 59 under the Aadabidda Nidhi scheme once we come to power. Also, we will allow free travel for women on Road Transport Corporation (RTC) buses,” he added.

He also promised that the TDP-Jana Sena government, once elected to power, would provide purified drinking water with tap connections to every household.
